Kegel Exercise

Kegel exercise is actually a therapeutic exercise. It is named after its discoverer, Dr. Arnold Kegel. Kegel exercising is an exercise that is specifically for the pelvic muscles of the body. It is now being used to help cure pelvic malfunction, such as urinary tract infections and other urinary illnesses.
The pelvic muscles are the ones responsible in holding your pelvic organs in place. One of today’s most common diseases include urinary tract infections and bladder diseases which have seriously affected quite a big number of the population. The young people are mostly the ones affected by this disease because of their unhealthy practices. People in their 40’s are also the ones affected by this disease. Women with hormonal problems also suffer pelvic diseases. Their low level of estrogen causes the disease.

Before performing a Kegel exercise, it is important that you will be able to locate the correct muscles that will be the target of the exercise. In locating these muscles, you may need the assistance of a medical professional. Pelvic muscles in women are located around the vagina, while it is located somewhere in between the anus and the urethra for the men. For you to be able to successfully perform the exercise, it is very important for you to locate the exact location of the pelvic muscles.

Kegel exercises are recommended to be done at two times per day. This should be performed for 5-6 minutes. At first, you may find it hard to sustain the first few performance of kegel exercise because the muscles are still not that strong. However, after having done it for several times, you muscles become stronger and can already sustain the pressure exerted on it.

Our pelvic muscles don’t become strong that easily. It would take a lot of work and sacrifice on your part to be able to strengthen the muscles. Yes, it could be a little sacrifice because, as you may have known, this type of exercise is painful, especially during the first few tries. However, if you will just consider its life-long benefits to our health, everything will be worth the pain.
